November 27 is Black Friday – the day when shops slash their prices to kick-start the Christmas shopping period and shoppers fall over themselves (often literally) to snap up a bargain. An increasing number of hotels have started to offer special Black Friday deals, too. And as the deals tend to be online only, you won’t have queue up in the cold and dark to bag one. Here are some of the best deals we’ve spotted so far.

In the Sixties, what is now the K West Hotel (above) was the BBC’s Kensington House where the likes of Bob Marley, David Bowie, The Kinks and Roxy Music stayed, played and misbehaved. The hotel claims it’s still the music industry’s hotel of choice and whatever the truth in that, it certainly offers unusually spacious and comfortable rooms, and a buzzy, modern vibe. One of K West’s chief advantages is its proximity to Westfield Shopping Centre, so perfect if you prefer to do all your shopping under one roof. For 24 hours only, from 9am on November 27, K West Hotel will be cutting room rates by 50 per cent for stays between December 20 2015 and March 31 2016. This offer is only available online.

Set at the Hyde Park Corner end of Piccadilly, close to both the West End and Knightsbridge, The Athenaeum is perfect if you’re after old-school glamour. It has a glamorous history, too: in the 1970s it was owned by the Rank Organisation and all of the movie stars of the day would stay here when they were filming at Pinewood or Ealing Studios. The chances of seeing a Hollywood mover and shaker in the bar are still pretty high. The Black Friday deal will be on the hotel’s website on November 27 and comprises a complimentary Festive Cocktail with every lunch, dinner and afternoon tea booking made between December 14 and 22 and December 27-January 3. Admittedly, a free cocktail is not that impressive, but check out the Christmas and New Year sale: 25 per cent off bar, rooms, suites and apartments booked on December 14. Conditions apply.

The Nadler Hotels group is aimed at ‘value-oriented’ customers, offering a curated version of the luxury boutique hotel. In other words, no restaurant, gym or bar – all of which all have to be paid for whether you use them or not – just high-spec rooms, with 24-hour reception, in excellent city-centre locations. We love the Soho Nadler, just off Soho Square, where small but well-furnished rooms have a kitchenette, with microwave, fridge and kettle. Who needs a stuffy hotel restaurant when you’re a hop, skip and a jump from some of the best in the world? On November 27 Nadler Hotels will be offering a discount of 27- 30 per cent on stays between now and the end of February 2016.

The four-star Lancaster, opposite Hyde Park, belongs to the same stable as K West Hotel but is the better bet if you want to be closer to the West End, or prefer your hotels to be traditional rather than hip. This is a large, modern hotel so it can feel a little impersonal, but with three bars and restaurants, and a luxurious Spa & Health Club with a 15m swimming pool, its facilities tick all the boxes. The Black Friday deal is the same as at its sister hotel: for 24 hours only, from 9am on November 27, Lancaster London will be cutting room rates by 50 per cent for stays between December 20 2015 and March 31 2016. This offer is only available online
