London Fashion Week starts on Friday, but did you know that many of the world’s top names in fashion also dabble in hotel design? Here’s where to find six of our favourite designer labels.

Never mind a suite, the late Oscar de la Renta was responsible for a whole hotel in the Dominican Republic, infusing his own Dominican heritage into his simple but stylish design. It’s also the only hotel in the world with an Oscar de la Renta boutique.Diane von Furstenberg, Claridges

Wrap dress queen Diane von Furstenberg has designed the Grand Piano Suite at Claridges. Her signature style is reflected in the marble fireplaces, sumptuous fabrics and animal print rugs.

Extravagent furniture and subtle décor distinguish this spacious suite in Berlin’s Schlosshotel im Grunewald by Karl Lagerfeld. Check out the contrasting romantic Art Deco bathroom.

Ralph Lauren is no stranger to hotel design, but we think these oceanfront rooms at Jamaica’s Round Hill are among the prettiest he’s done. Upholstery is from the Ralph Lauren Home Collection, so you can recreate the look at home though the tropical backdrop might be harder to pull off.

Alice Temperley, One & Only Le St Géran

British fashion designer Alice Temperley has come up with this hand-sewn tipi with bejewelled interior for St Geran One & Only in Mauritius. You can’t sleep in it but it’s available for private parties.

Donna Karan, Parrot Cay

Called The Sanctuary, this private villa in the glamorous Parrot Cay resort in Turks & Caicos has been designed by Donna Karan. Everything has been personally chosen by the designer – as well it might be: the villa belongs to Karan herself.
