Niamh was brought up in Ireland and now lives in The New Forest with her husband and children.  Niamh is the Founder and Creative Director of The Travelwrap Company.

Like many good ideas in business, The Travelwrap Company originated from direct personal experience. While travelling on business, the company founder Niamh Barker realised she preferred her own rolled up cashmere sweater to the offer of the airline reusable blanket and pillow. She came up with the concept of The Travelwrap.  The Travelwrap Company designs are an eclectic mix of classic and contemporary. Inspiration for designs comes from Niamh’s interest in contemporary art and the rural landscape of her home in the New Forest. Her Travelwrap designs celebrate an optimistic spirit. “I believe that gorgeous cashmere should speak for itself and that beautiful yet simple design can be achieved relatively easily when you start with the right qualities of colour and texture”

The Travelwrap was recently shortlisted for the 'Luxury Gift of the Year 2008' and much to the delight of Niamh, not only won this prestigious award but also received ‘Highly Commended’ for ‘The Accessory of the Year award 2008’

As Niamh Barker explains "Winning the Luxury Gift of The Year has been a lovely endorsement of what we set out from the beginning to achieve with The Travelwrap Company, to do one thing and do it very well at the top of the market. We spent a long time sourcing suppliers, staring with our Scottish mill that provided the most beautiful palette and finish of knitted cashmere to the packaging, gift presentation and end product. It is great to have recognized all our effort and ambition to get all the ingredients right and bring to market a beautiful luxury gift for 2008.  What we would like to achieve now is to harness the award and recognition and start to build the luxury brand of tomorrow."
