OUR SCOTTISH CASHMERE

The production and finish of our cashmere Travelwraps is something we are very passionate about here at The Travelwrap Company. Ethical trading and high quality manufacturing are essential to us. We started our small but evolving business a couple of years ago with these as our central ethos. We wanted our Travelwraps to be beautiful timeless pieces made from best quality cashmere which had been sourced ethically and knitted in Scotland.

Our mill in Scotland is one of the longest established and most respected for their quality of cashmere knitting both here in the U.K and internationally. They have worked for many years with the same herdsmen in Mongolia to source some of the best cashmere in the world.

Our mill actively participates in programmes to help prevent over-intensive grazing of pastures by cashmere goats, making this a sustainable product. They pay the suppliers very fairly and at least a year in advance; lesser quality cashmere fibres are often sold for less to go to manufacturers in China. 

The fibres of cashmere that go to make up the Travelwraps are dyed at our mill in Scotland and colourful cashmere yarns are derived from an extensive palette. Shades are often made up of multiple colours which are blended together to give the final product richness and depth. Again, this differentiates our Travelwraps from the flat and lifeless cashmere colours that can be bought from cheaper suppliers. 

There are at least 20 stages involved in the production of our knitted cashmere wraps, from collection of the cashmere through to the final wash of the finished Travelwrap in Scottish water.

Ours is the only mill in Britain to source the finest Mongolian cashmere and transform it from raw fibre to the finished article on site. Meticulous attention to detail from selection of the best fibres through to hand finishing ensures your cashmere travel blanket is as soft and downy as can be.

A cashmere jumper made in China is something produced for the mass market, generally in a neutral flat shade and not designed to stand the test of time. Our aim has always been to produce a beautiful timeless product that would last.
