Spring has sprung and we’re in the mood for some philotimo, the Greek philosophy of endless hospitality. Luckily, we know just where to find it: at this beautiful new luxury retreat on the Greek island of Santorini.Terrace, ErosantoriniPerched on the edge of the caldera, 300m above the Aegean, Erosantorini is one of those hospitality hybrids that combines the freedom and exclusivity of a private villa with the top-notch service and facilities of a boutique hotel, with a chef, spa services, yoga and Pilates sessions, and a full complement of staff on hand to ‘curate’ every minute of your stay (or not, if all you want to do is chill by the pool with friends and family).Bedroom, ErosantoriniThe villa, which sleeps up to 10 adults and four children and sits in a two-acre private estate, has been designed by the acclaimed Italian architect and designer Paola Navone to offer an inside-outside aesthetic. Each of the five suites has its own private outdoor space, with plunge pool and vast windows to allow the breeze to circulate on hot days and a dramatic floating fireplace for chillier evenings.Dining terrace, ErosantoriniNot that we’ll be spending much time indoors: Erosantorini has the largest infinity pool on the island (a whopping 35m) which cascades over three levels, with an underwater sound system and a cave for a morning coffee, perhaps, or an afternoon cocktail. Through the pretty gardens is the wellness area, with a yoga terrace overlooking the caldera; further exploration reveals an extensive wine cellar, private chapel, cliff-edge fire pit and open-air cinema.Buckets of fresh seafood, ErosantoriniAll food is prepared by the villa’s private chef and sure to include freshly caught fish, delicacies from the local markets and organic produce from the estate’s own garden, including an olive, lemon, fig, and pistachio grove. Terrace at sunset, ErosantoriniOh and the house sommelier sources the finest Greek wines to pair each of Chef’s dishes, many from the local vineyards. We could get used to all this philotimo.Erosantorini, SanatoriniErosantorni is open year-round. Rates range from €5,000-€18,000 per night (approximately £4,300-£15,550) based on 10 adults sharing on a full-board basis.
