In Hotel World, 2016 will surely go down as the year the Paris Ritz finally reopened, currently scheduled for March. But the Ritz won’t be the only ‘new’ hotel on our must-stay list next year. Here are five of 2016’s newcomers that we’ve currently got our eye on.

Amanera, Dominican Republic

We’re a sucker for an Aman resort at Travelwrap – all of the modern luxuries with none of the bling – but we were surprised when they opened Amanera (above) in the Dominican Republic in November. On the other hand, Aman is known for bagging the best locations in unexpected destinations, which in this case means 2,000 acres of almost virgin land, stretching across seven miles of Atlantic coast, surrounded by lush jungle and backed by mountains. What Aman isn’t known for, though, is its golf facilities and, located right next to the lauded Playa Grande Golf Course, Amanera is the group’s first golf-integrated property. Where better to perfect our swing than in the Caribbean in January? From around £900 per night. The Owl & the Pussy Cat, Sri Lanka

Opening any day now, this seaside hideaway is not far from the historic Galle Fort. Owners Reita Gadkari and Shane Thantirimudalige, both property developers, promise 16 spacious Bohemian-chic rooms and suites, each with striking views of the Indian Ocean and filled with handmade artwork and original pieces from around the world. You can swim with turtles, learn to fish with local fishermen, or just hang out by the jade-tiled infinity pool. From £200 per night.Zemi Beach House, Anguilla

Set to open in February, Zemi Beach House will be the first resort on the island’s glorious Shoal Bay East (and the first new-build hotel in Anguilla for six years). Design is by renowned Caribbean architect Lane Pettigrew, who takes his cue from the island’s natural environment, blending modern, clean lines with classic Caribbean style. Initially there will be just 70 keys, extending to 129 by the end of 2016, and accommodation will be a mix of deluxe rooms, two- and three-bedroom suites and three-bedroom penthouses. We love the sound of the vast wellness spa, which will have a sun deck for mud and salt body treatments, outdoor showers and vitality pool, not to mention the Taino Bathing Ritual incorporating ancient plants and herbs used by Anguilla’s native Taino Indians. From £460 per night.Casa Hubertus, Marbella

Casa Hubertus is the newest suite at the Marbella Club. Set among olive trees and orange groves in its own private gardens, the two-bedroom duplex has high vaulted ceilings, wood burning fireplaces, vintage lounge chairs and cosy sofas. It has been designed by Prince Hubertus Von Hohenlohe, son of the hotel’s founder, who according to our sources, has brought his vibrant personality and cool demeanour to the design of the suite. Wood burning fireplaces or not, we’ll probably wait until May when temperatures on the Costa del Sol will be around 18C. From £707 per night, with a minimum stay of two nights.THE PIG at Combe, Devon

Hurrah – a new Pig hotel is opening in 2016. The UK’s fifth Pig will be located in what was Combe House Hotel in Otter Valley, near Honiton, eight miles from the coast. The existing Elizabethan building will be ‘piggified’ and extended to offer 33 rooms, and, as with the other Pigs, the kitchen garden and restaurant will be at the hotel’s heart. THE PIG at Combe is set to open in ‘early summer’ – we can hardly wait. Contact The Pig for price details.
