The Turkish resort town of Bodrum is famous for its luxury hotel brands: Six Senses, Mandarin Oriental, LUX* and Aman to name but four. But the hotel everyone is talking about this summer is the new Bodrum EDITION.The Bodrum EDITIONThe Bodrum EDITION, which overlooks Yalikavak bay, is the latest collaboration between Marriott and hotel legend Ian Schrager. Schrager is the former co-founder of Studio 54 who is credited with inventing the boutique hotel, as well as the ‘urban resort’. The stylish Turkish property is the fourth EDITION to open – with 21 more in development around the world – with the stated aim of ‘rethinking and catapulting the boutique/lifestyle category hotel into the present by capturing the spirit of the times’.The Bodrum EDITIONSet in 5.5 acres of beautifully landscaped grounds sloping down to its own sandy beach, The Bodrum EDITION boasts 102 guest rooms, bungalows with private pools and larger private villas. There are cool lounge bars, a night club and two signature restaurants presided over by Peruvian chef Diego Munoz, who has worked at both El Bulli and Mugaritz in Spain. The Bodrum EDITIONThough Aegean in its design aesthetic, there are also design flourishes typical of EDITION, such as the enormous vases filled with tropical plants and the cool, sophisticated décor. Schrager believes that today’s travellers want the ethos and soul of a hotel to be ‘authentic and have character as well as provide impeccable, modern and gracious personalized service that is at the same time luxurious yet down to earth.’The Bodrum EDITIONDoubles from £310 per night, including breakfast. The hotel is open from April to October.
