Join the beach club

Where better to show off my new Mohito Travelwrap than a swanky beach club? Here’s where I plan to chill with a cocktail or two this summer.

There are currently seven Swedish-owned Purobeach clubs in Europe and the UAE. The Oasis del Mar, above, in Palma is one of the most beautiful, with its cool design, black volcanic stone pool and Balinese hammocks. The Majorcan club has indoor and outdoor bars and restaurants with a Miami-Marrakesh-Melbourne influenced menu and regular special events. During the day the Oasis del Mar hosts yoga and paddle surfing classes as well as massages on the beach and other spa treatments.Nikki Beach Versilia, TuscanyWe have the Nikki Beach brand, launched in 1998, to thank for the contemporary beach club concept that combines music, dining, entertainment, film and art with Balinese beds and poolside catwalks. Nikki Beach Versilia is one of two new clubs to open in Europe last summer and as well as being set on the beautiful white sands of Pietrasanta in Northern Tuscany it has a swimming pool made from Carrara marble, no less (children, though welcome in the restaurant and beach area, are not permitted in the pool). Ushuaia Ibiza Beach Club, IbizaPart of the iconic Ibiza Beach Hotel, the Ushuaїa Ibiza Beach Club is set right on the beachfront and is open from noon until 8pm. Food is appropriately marine-based –langoustine, lobster and royal crayfish fresh from the tank, say, or sensational rice with lobster, salt-crusted sea bass and John Dory baked in salt – and you don’t even need to leave your Balinese bed to eat it. Expect chilled electro beats, with the volume and tempo rising as the day progresses. Coco Beach Lounge and Club, FuerteventuraCoco Beach Lounge and Club, at the five-star Gran Hotel Atlantis Bahía Real, is Fuerteventura’s first dedicated chill-out beach club and lounge with minimalist blue and white décor, Balinese beds and direct access to the sea. The food is good here, too: think sea-inspired dishes such as octopus gratin with green mojo sauce, baby squid croquettes and deep fried calamari Andalusian style. There’s yoga and Pilates on the terrace or if that’s too energetic you can have a beachside massage. Hard Rock Hotel Beach Club, TenerifeThe Hard Rock Hotel Tenerife, is a new five-star hotel near the Costa Adeje in the South of Tenerife. On the edge of the lagoon is the family-friendly Beach Club, offering live music performances from establish acts during the summer, Balinese Beds (of course) and a wide selection of eco-friendly and healthy meals.
