If you’re about to book a ski holiday and can’t decide between a catered chalet and a resort hotel, how about somewhere that combines the style and intimacy of the former with five-star facilities of the latter? We asked our friends at Ski Solutions to pick five of this season’s best ski boutique hotels, with availability this month or next.

Hotellerie de Mascognaz, Champoluc, Italy

High above the resort of Champoluc, Hotellerie de Mascognaz (above) is made up of several restored farmhouses and offers the ultimate rustic-chic experience.Rooms (above) feature exposed wooden beams and roaring log fires and if you can bear to leave your room, there’s a spa with an indoor pool, sauna and steam room – great for relaxing those tired ski muscles. Price £1,280 per person, sharing a standard double room, for seven nights, including scheduled flights, accommodation, half-board catering and private transfer. Departs January 31 2015.Hotel Valluga, St Anton, Austria

Originally built in 1952, Hotel Valluga (above) has been lovingly restored and given a chic, modern twist. Rooms are spacious, but cosy and there’s a vast lounge area where you can play games, chat or sit back and enjoy a Glühwein or two in front of the fire. Facilities include a restaurant serving healthy and energising cuisine, and a spa, fitness and wellness area.
